Truly Stumped

Did a quick 30% water change. Noticed that in my white bucket the water looked green, not the foggy white it is in the tank... 2 more days without lights. Took out all the plants. Wondering if my Big peice of drift wood could do it ? It was in my buddys tank for a year before it came to mine so I dont Think its that. Plus im running carbon in my HOB filter. HOPING its just an algea outbreak. When I changed water I used COLD water and it was crystal clear. not the foggy warm water I have been using. On monday one more big water change then lights on and lets see what happens. If its still foggy I might kill myself. Or empty tank, clean everything and refill...
