truth about albino poly

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that sucks

i have 2, and 1 regular sen. i think they've all grown like .5" in the past 3 or 4 months.

but my regular sen has weird front fins, he only has little nubs and no outside clear part like most polys, one is split, got him like that when he was like 2". just figured he was deformed.

15 years is the average

oh ok so thats the reason they grow so slow
mine seems to be taking ages and the ornate i had was much smaller than the albino sen when i got both of them together and now the ornate seems to be 2.5times bigger than the albino and has also tried to eat the albino sen once

now after reading this thread i want to feed that to my ornate and get rid of it :irked:

there are some reported to be near 30 but this is not exception to the rule-Anne

I dunno, my albino sen is growing fairly fast, but my long finned albino is growing slow. It just depends on the fish and their eating habits I think.

The key factor on bichirs growth rate is the how much food they eat and the environment they live in. I have some albino sene that grew fast and some grew slower.

Most captive breed bichirs (sene, poli, delhezi) today have weaker genes and they usually grow smaller, doesn't matter how much you feed then and how clean your water is. Althought endli and lap are the two lower jaw species that are being mass breed, their genes seems to stay normal (Except short body and plat). Plat endli seems to grow slower once they get to 7"-10".
