Thats not a JD, its a hybrid.. JD x something.

Maybe I am wrong but I never seen baby JD looking like that..

He/she is light sometimes and dark sometimes. Not sure if it is a true JD but i bought it at PetsMart and the tank said Green Terror and JD. here are some pic of my friends. he got em at the same petsmart but like 3 or 4 month b4 me.

Looks like a baby JD to me. Its also too small to sex, I would think. As for darker colour...that really just depends on the fish. Darker substrate and surroundings will cause the fish to darked, as will mood swings and health.
