Trying again.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks like a nice staring set up.
I have done as you said above with my current plus pro led's, set them to one, and use an external timer.

I have found that although the control is nice for fish only tanks, with plants the ability to have on and off times for planted tanks is to much to let go.

10 hours is quite a long light period, but would work with a relatively lower light imo. Have you considered adding more plants? I find that by increasing plant density at the start, you stand a much better chance of the plants outcompeting algae for nutrients.

^ nice start, but just a question, do you have a thin oil like film layer on the surface of your water??? Coz mave you need a small skimmer???

I do have a bit of a bio film right now. I've been feeding bloodworms over the last few days to get the rams eating and strong again.

Figured I would update this. I had a small outbreak of black beard algae I was able to beat successfully. Pretty exciting. I added my other satellite plus pro fixture to get better light to the red foxtail in the back. I reduced both fixtures to 80 percent and photo period to 8 hours. Also, figured out that the surface film is coming from the small doses of seachem nitrogen I was dosing.

You might want to consider adding a small skimmer such as the Ehiem Skim 350 to your tank, you can even run it only when you need to if you feel its a bit of an eyesore...

I run one on my 50G to avoid any surface film and promote gas exchange...
