Trying My Hand At A Single Species Breeding Tank

Love the rockwork! I know I'm a little late to the party here, but in case you ever set up another tank, Pundamilia Nyererei Makobe Island are a great species-tank cichlid. Gorgeous colors on the male and, if you can find some wc/f1/great genetics, they tend to be more colorful than anything out of lake malawi. I know a guy in Tucson with some F1's that are about 2 inches with an identical amount of color to the one pictured, and they're relatively small cichlids so you can stock quite heavily. Of course, your subdominant male will lose a lot of that color as the Vics tend to be VERY dominance dependent for their tones, but that dominant male makes it all worth it in my opinion. Congrats on the DB's! Gorgeous fish and the fry are generally pretty easy to sell if you have an attractive enough breeder

Very cool fish! I'll keep an eye out. My only issue is cost. I am a graduate student so I can't drop a few hundred bucks on a dozen fish and shipping right now.
