very much liking it - just some java fern and a bit of vallis. they have learned not to nip the java - the vallis is a bit of a salad buffet though; all your comments/opinions/advice welcome (yep that's a jewel in there; more than holding his own so far, nope that's not a front its a tretocephalus, yep I know he's a tang)

Mine love snacking on plants, I always have some in the tank.

thanks guys. Mike ; there are two lamps, the leilupi and the tret. both are pretty good, and holding their own. the leilupi is accidentally female and spawns regularly, but probably has a little more attitude for that, and the tret, well that was a bit of a risk but so far so good. He's a long way off being a dominant fish but nobody messes him around; I have seen him take a couple of pseudotropheus down a peg or too. It probably helps that I don't keep any of the seriously aggro mbuna, and not even for instance kenyi or johannis.

I have several plants, but my tank is 90% Tang. The only Malwai are a White Top Acei and a Yellow Lab. Both don't ever touch the plants.

Just saw the pics., and they suck I will try to take some non-blurry ones. I also have Vals. and they aren't doing as good as I hoped they would. They are pretty new (1-2 months old) and have not adjusted to my lights yet.

I have a planted African Tank,

Stock list:
2 large male yellow labs
1 large male Kenyii
1 small female Kenyii
1 Auratus
2 Tretacephalus
1 Strawberry or Crystal Red Peacock
1 OB Peacock
1 Sunshine Flametale Peacock
4 Julidichromis Marleri – two small and two large
1 Red Empress 1 Red Topped Zebra
1 German Red
1 Ahli
1 Syno Multipunk
2 Syno Decorus
1 Bristlenose
1 Tiger Pleco
3 Clown Loaches

Plant Stock List (in the pic):
Amazon Swords
Jungle Vals

And here it is from late January. Some of the fish have been added since the pick. Almost everything is tiny except for the 2 yellow labs and the Kenyii. I have also added a couple more plants since this pic was taken including some Java Fern (some has done well, some hasn't) Annubius Nana (not doing well) and something else that I had never seen before (and can't remember the name) that is doing OK and some Crypt Wendtii

I'll try to get some newer pics soon with the new plants (and fish).
