yes pics of your fish would really help. the easiest way to find a male from the lfs is to just buy 6 of em, let them grow and like someone said above that will give you the option to pick the best looking male. there is no sure way to tell the sex besides venting them. i have a female that for 4 years i thought was a male, untill i noticed her laying eggs lol. but for the most part males have little to no color on lower gill plates and cheeks. if you are wanting to breed them, you might want to go with the buy 6 to start with plan because remember they pick their mate not you. so you may get a male but they might still not pair up. i wish you luck though. i love my jacks. they have great character and are awesome to watch!
