trying to convince my work (LFS), opinions please

It looks better when topped off, but a tank is a tank either way, what really matters is fish help.

I think one of the reasons why they dont like you to be topping off tanks is that it is a waste money on the dechlorinator. I guess if you owned a shop, you would be careful in how you control costs. By the way, water is taken out everyday for customers when they buy the fish so that is a lot of dechlor that you have to use.

It looks better topped off but I wouldnt loose any sleep over it. Im sure the customers could careless. I also think its surprising how many people do this at home too. Iv seen quite a few that like to keep them low. One guy I bought a tank from had FH's in half full tanks.

i just hate it when i see tanks that are half empty. i could care less if there was 1'' of water missing.
The sound of the water returning to a low tank gets on my nerves after a while, reason enough for me to keep the levels high.

i totally agree with you, but as an LFS, i'd say leave some room in case you need to catch a fish and things get splashy. But on large show tanks (u know every LFS has that show tank in front of the window with like really cool fish that nobody ever buys cause it's too expensive) leave that one topped off always.

I always keep my tanks topped off but honestly, I've never noticed where the water line in the lfs tanks are. I'm more worried about cleanliness and the health of the fish.

not important enough to get into a p***ing contest over . . . if the management doesn't want it topped off, that's their call . . . once you've made your argument - - and lost - - then you really only have two choices: deal with it, or walk

by topping the tanks off despite their telling you not to, you're just being a malcontent . . . and as long as fish health is unaffected, I think you should feel comfortable following store policy
