trying to convince parents to let me get a snake...

i always wanted a snake ever since i was 10 and found a ring-neck snake in our base, due to my cousin leaving the door cracked open one night. kept him for about 2 weeks in a 10 gallon tank and fed him lightning bugs then released him in my nearby woods.

My plan was to put my fish that are in my 55 gallon, into my 125 with my baby turtle.

and use my 55 gallon for a snake or may be even some kind of lizard.
I know i would need a heat lamp and screen cover ofc alond with water dish that they can bathe in ( depending on species) and wanted samething that can live its life in a 55g

*Mom says possibly a lizard, but no snake.... i really want a snake*

Am thinking of either some kind of corn snake (if aloud a snake) or if lizard maybe a bearded dragon??? would any of them be able to live in a 55g for life?

Sigh...Darn prejudice about snakes all over again. Stupidity of the human race. In any case, yes, the corn would really enjoy a 55 gallon, but I think you want to go bigger for the beardie as far as possible, they really really really appreciate the extra space. In terms of care, the corn takes far less effort.

There are a few snakes that a 55g would be plenty big enough. But snakefin said it right as far as beardie and corns.

I saw a lot of different types of substrate for them, but didnt see anything about pool sand, Can i use it or will it get digested?

I wouldn't use pool sand for a reptile of any type.

Don't use any type of sand or something that can be ingested. When I had my Bearded Dragon I had him on reptile carpet for a bit, but after awhile bacteria will grow after they sh*t. And after that I jsut layed down paper towels.

How long can a baby cornsnake stay in a 10gal until he would need to move to a 55 gal (saying 55 gallons because that is wat i will have available)

Depends how much you feed him and how small he is when you get him. Generally until the are around 24-30" is about what i did, a 55g would be a fairly large for a corn but i dont think he would mind.

Wat about a small boa, if a 55 is tad big for a corn. Keep in mind never did keep a snake before.
