My tank came with black background 3/4 inch acrylic all around @ 8x8 over flow boxes with 2 inch drains and 1 inch returns with warrenty $2800 shipped!

The price of tanks goes up a lot once you hit the 36 inch mark for height. I wouldn't be suprised if an 8X4X3 tank costs $1000-$1500 more than an 8X4X2.5 tank.

Just like I said, it was cheaper for me as well to order direct from Tenecor, than just the cost of material, and this was sourcing from China, the land of everything cheap.

The price you paid is lower than what I would have guessed. Definitely looks like purchasing directly from Tenecor could be a very good option. I guess I could use the same method to get the new tank into the basement that I used for my 300 gallon tank..but really not looking forward to moving a 800lb aquarium around.

How do you have to get it down stairs I have to go down a 34 inch wide set of 14 stairs....

Get some strong friends.

And/or lots of vaseline and a carpet. And glue to reassemble.

The stairs leading to my basement have a angled opening at the top of the stairs which is little more than 6 feet wide and it is 38 inches between the molding on the walls. I will just need to remove the railing on the one side, but that is just unscrewing some screws and then screw it back once the tank is in.

It is not a 100% requirement that the aquarium be 3 feet tall..if like Jabba says that the cost goes way up, I can live just fine with a 30", 32" etc. aquarium. Really mostly interested in the 8' x 4' dimensions.

the weight is 8.4 pounds per gallon for the water, 4 pounds for decor

Sounds like you have quite the project underway.

I'm going with the crowd and suggesting a Tenecor build for you. Lots of member here use them, and I'll vouch for their quality as well. I deal with them on a personal basis as well. The owner is a great guy who really knows his stuff.
