Trying to keep a single male flowerhorn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ah. Could be a shock of the new parameters, it's good to do some acclimation beforehand instead of dumping straight in. That could've been a factor

How do you suggest I introduce the new fish to the tank? Also is it better to go with a 2 inch FH or a 4" FH?

I'd say a 4 is more hardy, being a tad larger..

Read up on acclimation methods :)

Is your tank cycled?Did you keep fish in it inbetween the angelfish and this FH, to keep the cycle going? What are your water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)
FH are hardy fish. Dropping them in with no acclimation could definitely have led to their death, but on the other hand I know people who don't acclimate tough cichlids like these. Also the fact that it took them a day or three to die. makes me think perhaps something is wrong in your tank other than the acclimation.
