nobody really feeds their monster cats with pellets. just give it a variety of fish. just not feeders. they like tilapia, trout strips, smelt, shrimp etc. be sure to rinse them good. pellets and wafers are usually weekly treats. they get bored of the same diet really easily so switch it up.

Why hasn't my lfs told me this? That is really annoying when they dont tell you these important facts... first off they were like yea they can be trained to eat pellets no problem then the poor guy would starve bc he just dont like pellets so I've had no choice but to get feeders bc they told me no options anyways where do you get those items my lfs doens't sell that and my gs only sells shrimp and tilapia can it be raw tilapia from the grocery store or frozen precooked type??
Sorry I'm clueless on this my monter albino channel cat loves pellets so do all my other fish so this is new to me, I was shocked that my tsn wont eat earthworms shouldn't he like that? he is only about 11 in now...

I really do feed my Monster Cats pellets. I've got 5 kilos of Hikari Sinking pellets in my closet. :D I feed 4 different kinds, plus earthworms.

well almost all lfs employees are clueless about fish or they dont really care as long as u buy from them. its best to feed them raw tilapia and smelt. they love it. u can slip a few pellets into the smelt everytime u drop a piece in. shrimp can be fed cooked or raw. just as theres no added flavors or stuff. after a while, it'll start accepting just pellets.

Pellets should be fed as a STAPLE they contain much more protein than fish. They are better to feed than fish. Feed massivore mostly and the smelt and shrimp should be the treat. Flaming, you really need to get your information right and do research...

i feed my rtc shrimp stuffed with color enhancing pellets. its tail and dorsal fin became bright red after a month, and i said that soon they start accepting just pellets. stop replying to every single one of my posts and acting like a know it all. o yea when your feedin it shrimp, either feed it completely cooked or completely raw. also try freeze dried krill. they like that. soak it in water first cuz when its still hard, it might hurt them.

I'm not replying to every one of your posts. I'm just correcting the misinformation given by you in every post... Just because you do that doesn't make it good for the fish. You wanted to feed your arowana a bird, what kind of a caretaker does that?

wow why the hell are u still dwelling on that? i know how to take care of my fish so mind your own crap and get a life already

Okay, you mind your own fish then. Just don't come here posting information that you *think* is right when you are wrong. The reason your rtc has nice red on its fins is due to the protein in the pellets, granted some credit can be given to the shrimp. But for the most part, pellets are cheaper, and better to feed to your fish. Read the nutritional facts on fish/shrimp and compare it to the 40-60% makeup of protein in pellets.

not where i live. here, pellets cost more than shrimp. i stuff the shrimp with my arowana's pellets. its labeled to improve the red of any fish. shrimp is pretty cheap around here. like $5 a pound fresh not frozen
