Wart like bumps appeared on this fish 5 days ago. I raised temp to (84*) and added aquarium salt. Last night the TSN was swimming a little crazy like it was trying to scratch itself on the rocks. Today (see photos) I see that is exactly what it done. scratched the bumps off partially. This fish is a little over a year old. This tank has been its home the whole time. I do 50% water changes every sunday and clean the mech filter sponge. The temp is usually 80* the Nitrates rarely go above 20ppm. I have well water that is 7.6 ph and zero nitrates. Can someone identify whats going on here please. I have searched for a match to these bumps for 2 days and If this needs urgent action of some sort, I dont want to put it off any longer. The bumps are in 2 spots. just behind the mouth and in front of top fin. Thanks in advance for your help.

A possibility would be bacterial infection. Any chance of close up pics?

my two gulper catfish had wart like bumps and scatched at the substrate also, before I knew it , it was full blown columnaris that I'm still treating, effectively at least, and I would not recommend any drastic ph changes at this time as it could create more stress and lead to a bigger infection, and if it is columnaris it would thrive in an alkaline enviorment, just a few thoughts ,hopefully that's not the case and it something a little less harsh, if its somthing like parasites I would recommend pazi pro if it turns out to be columnaris I would recommend kanaplex or maracyn 2 at the least as its easily available, if you think it might possibly be columnaris read the sticky in this forum or feel free to veiw my topic in this forum labeled "gulper catfish bumps" its recent and I'm will be updating my progress with this nasty bacteria
