just my two cents....TSN's and thier relatives rtc and hybrids included, like/love to hide as young IMO till about 6-8". you can also use small chunks of trout worm. there are lots of minerals in them and high protien. I started mine on a shotgun of frozens (beef heart, mysis, blood worms, even brine shrimp) and live worms. I've also seen/ found tsn's like plants as hides better than thier cousins (rtc's and hybrids). So if you have a dense fake plant, he may find a nice spot that you can see him easily and he can hunt from. Pics are always a bonus
My experience agrees with the above. They prefer to hide when small, especially in the plants, but do come out for dinner. Mine three (4", 5" and 6") are still hiding a lot but it is getting less with time. They eat more some times and less other times.
