what will be the growth of each of these fish iam worried that the rtc or the hyvrid will catch up to my tsn in the future tsn is 15 inches int he pond
rtc and hybrid are 6 inches in the tank

On average, the growth of all three is quite comparable. TSN may grow a bit slower for most keepers but it appears rather insignificant.

YMMV greatly depending on the diet, feeding habits, health, vigor, dominance issues, etc.

Also, one has to keep in mind that our hobby is, sadly, heavily polluted by the rejects from the food fish farming, runts of the litter - that's why we see so many low-quality fish with physical deformities (especially among the TSNs IME), deviations, and other strange traits including growth rates and adult sizes. Artificial reproduction, inbreeding, mutation, poor farming conditions and poor diets (as a result of chasing minimum investment and maximum profit), poor keeping conditions, use of illegal and/or poor quality medicines, etc. all take their toll.

okay what is the general outcome between growth in a pond and a tank what i mean is in the pond there is more space but less feeding in the tank less space more feeding. tsn is in the pond so do you think he will have faster growth

I don't see the connection between the enclosure size and the amount of food. Are you simply saying this is the way you feed them on purpose, say, because the pond filtration is smaller than that on the tank?

In general, the more food and the more space, the faster the growth. If two of these factors oppose each other, IMO it is a guessing game of the shooting-in-the-dark kind to figure out which one wins.

On growth, I got my RTC and tsn at the same time. After a year and a half I had to split them up because I was afraid of the RTC eating the tsn. My RTC is just under 3' approx and tsn is 22" ish. It may just be my tsn but the growth seems much slower after a foot.

the rtc will catch up, the hybrid might. I've never delt with hybrid cats before but I've heard their growth rate is in beetween the rtc and tsn.

What Bassguy says is approx. typical. His TSN appears indeed a bit slower than average but not by much.

From all I came across and IME, hybrids and RTCs grow at the same pace (lengthwise). RTCs, of course, grow bulkier, because the hybrids take after their mother, the TSN, in the body structure. In fact, these things are paid close attention because of the hybrid vigor expectations and studies.

I think the fact that RTCxTSN is chosen to be farmed for food on a major scale is not because they grow faster but
-- because they are stronger as far as their immune system and
-- perhaps because their flesh is of better quality and
-- because they are largely sterile (preservation of local eco-systems).

yes my rtc eats as twice as much as my hybrid
so this will be the fastest
rtc then hybrid last tsn

Judging by my current fish, TSN and hybrid are growing lengthwise at about the same rate and are currently about 15" with the TSN being slightly longer. The hybrid is much bulkier and I would say is putting on far more weight.
My RTC seems to be growing fastest but I don't measure very often and I'm just judging by him being far smaller than the others when I got him and the impression I have that he's catching up. He's about 11" currently.
My carnivorous cats are fed weekly and my hybrid doesn't eat as much at the weekly feeding, the RTC and TSN both pig out. I drop in some pellets for my O. Niger every day or two and the RTC and hybrid both usually steal a few of the pellets but the TSN doesn't.

That's interesting, Houie. The hybrid eats less than the TSN by far (I don't think a few stolen pellets meant for the niger would count much) but puts on significantly more weight? If this is clearly so, then one could suppose that the hybrid assimilates/utilizes the food significantly better than the TSN.
