I think I need a better, close-up pic and the size. Certainly, there is a gar forum here - those guys should be able to tell you even with that photo. There are 7 species of gar.

You were right about the sizes, the "big" gar is 6 inches so the other one was probably 5 inches. Here's a closer pic from today.

Are you sure of your sizes? Gars are very rigid and don't bend. With the numbers you provided, I'd expect that some portion of the gar would be sticking out of the TSN's mouth and the gar would be gradually swallowed and digested.

Should not be too much of a shock. Gars are slender. TSN mouths extend huge. If any fish can even remotely fit into a highly predatory catfish mouth girth-wise (not length-wise), it is at risk.

+1 I had a buddy who had a 10inch Flathead cat that ate a 7 inch spotted gar.....Catfish with big mouths and stomachs are not to be trusted with slender fish.
