just wondering but can a tiger shovel nose regerg the contents of its belly? mine seamed that it was full of rocks and the substrate of the tank is pebble size so there is no way it could pass them thay were there for a week then thay were just all gone.

ya they will throw up. but watch out it will really mess up your water to the point everything will die if you dont do a massive water change within a hr. Wetwiskers just lost her biggest tsn this way.

they will regurgitate if you overfeed. like mqktandy said, make sure you watch the tsn do it so you can clean up the mess immediately. and yes, I feel so bad for wet whiskers. what a horrible thing to happen

thanks alot my tsn is still small about 8 or 10 inches in my 125 i will do a water change in the morning. im happy thay will regerg the rocks because he wasent eating because of it. i was also wondering what els i can feed him because i finally got over a realy bad out brake of ick on him from gold fish and im feeding frozen silver sides know is there any thing els i can feed him and my alligator gar as well? and i want to put a arawanna in the tank how big am i going to have to get one that my gar wont eat he is almost 22 inches ?

I would also suggest taking the rocks out so this doesn't happen again and again cuz you can't always be there when he throws up.... i feed mine tilapia... and a 22 inch gar in a 125... what are the measurments of the tank... 72x18x22???? i would suggest spending the money on a bigger tank for the 2... the TSN will out grow that tank very quickly some can grow up to 3 inches in month but 2 inches is about average.... and for a adult TSN you will need 600 gallons or more to house one... a pond is what most end up using to house these big monster... then ya could have the 125 to grow an aro up...

i have been working on a room in my basement for all my animals ( i also have a bunch of snakes) im going to be building anther pond in that room 5x5x3 for them im just not shour how to filter it yet. i never thought of tilpia before and i have a fresh sea food store right around the corner from me can get it real cheep. thanks again:D

you can also use scallops and night crawlers for a treat... i have found that with mine at least he will try anthing you put in there... and glad to see you are thinking ahead for the monster unlike a lot around here...

i love my fish lol i will post some pics of my room later. my problum with him is he wont eat off tongs you have top throw the food in the tank and walk away if you are with in site he wont eat lol.

You've got a beast and a monster on your hands. The tsn I know you know will get big. But gator gars are insane fish. Grow fast, eat everything, and get HUGINORMOUS!!! I had two i grew to 3 feet in a 8x8x2 and I couldn't even house them anymore. I ended up giving them to a public aquarium. Id start building that enclosure ASAP. Even with a 5x5 they will outgrow it in a very short time. I would build it as big as possible. If you have more room, use it. As for a filter, check out my DIY filter in my sig. You don't have to use that big of a pump but the big the better.

mine wouldn't eat unless you turned the lights off til about a week or so ago... now as soon as he sees ANYTHING hit the bottom he is all over it... but mine is up to 18 to 19 inch now... so i'm sure yours will start eating more readily with you watching... just got to let him get bigger cuz at 8 to 10 inches they are still babies considering the adult size... this is my first one tho so maybe it's not a common thing but mine was just like that when smaller... goodluck
