Im going to be picking up a 180 soon and I was wondering if a TSN could live there for a while because it is 72x24x24.....I know not life but for some years could he?

They grow real quick. Mine is less than 2 years old.

How big would you say yours is? He looked to be about 1.5-2ft...Man I want a tank like yours that things huge! Just no space right now....Im thinking it would be better just to stick with a group of Lima's instead..

I'd say it can comfortably live in a 180 for about a year tops depending on how heavy you feed. I feed moderately not trying to power grow mine at the moment and it grew from 2" in march last year to 20" currently. I know many that have passed the 2ft mark in less than a year if your powerfeeding it for growth. ~Trent

thanks man, looks like I would do the fish more harm than good by keeping it in a 180...

I have a 1 yr old TSN thats led a pampered life and is only about 18-20". He eats like a horse 3-4 times a week and is the laziest fish I own. He sleeps on top of my RTC and aside from being a little skittish when spooked is completely mellow. I think he would last 2 years in a 180 no problem. At night he slowly cruises around but certainly isn't very active. I haven't seen many aquarium TSN's much more than 24".

Now you are changing my mind. Ive always wanted a TSN just have been restricted by size. If i dont get the 180 there is a 5x4x1.5 tank im looking at (not tall I know) but I love the width so that might be my catfish tank ive been wanting :)

those are great dimensions.

he can live in a tank like that for ages. its just that wen he gets over 2.5 feet u have to worry about him smashing the glass. tigers r pretty skittish and powerful jumpers. ure gona have to invest in a pond or tub after about 3 years i reckon.
