I tried the combo and works just for me. Got a 26" fire and a 16" tire tack. Introduced the small spiny eel while doing water change. The current eel will just ignore it. If you introduce it right away the current spiny eel in the tank will surely harass it.

alright...i got it and i am doing a wc to adding it i will get a pic of it...it has a few spots on its side but it is mainly tan...i think it might be stressed from the long tim she took to net it...

^^^It sounds like what you are describing is the same pattern my 13 incher has, if it is then that isn't from stress, if it has that pattern now it will always have that pattern. I personally prefer that pattern to the regular pattern. GL with your eels.

Edit: I looked at the pics and it does have the same pattern so yeah, it isn't going to change.
