My TT seems to be happy. However, he does not seem to be growing the one inch per month I read they are supposed to grow. I give him two cubes of frozen blood worms per day. The eel eats most to all of it. Some times I submerse freeze dried blood worms and it will eat those. I also have given it live black worms once and it at a few of the ones that I got past my oscar. Is there something else I should be feeding my TT to get it to grow better? Am I feeding it enough? I just want to make sure I do all I can to grow a health and happy eel. Thanks for reading :D

how big is he?

About 3 or 4 " but pretty skinny I think. Its very active. Swims around the tank day and night. It has frown about .5" or so in the two months Ive had it. Nothing very noticable.

At that size they look skinny, I would think that 2 cubes would be sufficient, but give him some more and if he can eat it add it to the feeding regiment. You can get them vitimin fortified as well. You can also try different types of cubes... daphne, I buy the multi tropical cubes that have everything from squid to algea in it, if you can get the diet varied a bit it will be easier switching to larger foods as he grows. Once he gets bigger the menu can be expanded to earth worms, insect larve, I heard of tadpoles, shrimp (if your lucky) fish (if yor lucky), people have the latter two on the menus for their spiney eels but I never had to much luck with my tire tracks taking them. Do you have pictures of the little guy?

Here are some pics.

Well the reason it's not growing fast is thats a Zig Zag eel, not a tire track eel. Those top out around 8" or so.

LOL! That would explain it. I bought it at the LFS as a TT and I discussed it for several minutes about how I didnt think it looked quite like a TT. The insisted and I fell for it. Now I feel ultra dumb. I guess Ill move it to my wifes 55 gal. Thanks for the help.

Yea, I've had LFS special order TT before and they always come in as zig zags.. it's quite annoying but they can only go by what the distributors say I guess..

Go back to the store with a print-out of both species and tape it to the tank that zig-zag came out of. Then tell them you're getting your money back AND keeping the fish, and your uncle at the better business bureau might be interested in the situation. This crap has to stop.
