I never even knew of any zoos in Jersey yet there is one that has a tuatara, please tell me where this zoo is located....I don't think the Philadelphia Zoo even has one.

No, I meant the penguin lol. But there's a lot of zoos in NJ (8 or 9 that I know of), the one down the street from me is Turtle Back Zoo... they just dumped another 3-4 million into it this year for expansions and stuff.

I guess I've got some day trips to plan for this spring.

not to mention they require refrigeration units in their cages since they need temps much cooler than room temperature year round. Their hot spots are usually around 55º. I do not think they are suited for captivity.
Tuataras do great in captivity, some people had them including several naturalists 100 years ago or something, a few specimens attained very old ages. And several zoos outside New Zeland bred them. However even if legal, yea this would be a pet for few.

That's down the street from ya? I was there over the summer on a trip with the zoo I work at. 'Twas pretty cool!:D

Yea, if you go out the front to the main street and go up the hill 2 blocks, that's my street lol. And yea, it used to be a pretty poor zoo years ago, but in the last 5 years they've put so much money and effort into rebuilding it, adding additions, getting new animals, better staff, etc. It's really become a cool place. What zoo do you work at?
