Tubifex culture in snail tank safe for fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if they are moving around and wriggling like earthworms, living on the bottom of the tank and in the substrate, they are INDEED detritus worms. they are harmless but are a sign that more WC/less feedings are needed. they are fine for your fish to eat and my fish seems to think they were treats. they couldn't eat them fast enough

They've got their own tank, I work hard to keep it deoxygenated and polluted. I think I'll go ahead and feed them. I've got prazi-pro at hand if something does take root...

Wow. I took one out and fed it to my greenie, Xavier. The worm I grabbed was almost four inches long and acted just like a ticked-off earthworm! Xavier inhaled it. Woot!

I've done a little poking around about tubifex cultures and they are supposed to be touchy. I guess I've got a hardy strain or something, if they are tubifex. I can't really find much at all about detritus worms. Any links on that? I'd like to verify what I'm growing so I'm not lying to people...

This had better not end up being a hobby myth like the planaria confusion...
