tubs and large fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Indiana in the house!!! I use rubbermaid tubs and I think they are great. If you got the 300 gal. tub you could put about 225-250 gal of water in and still have a safe amount of sidewall above the water for jumpers (about a foot). And a lot of them have drainplugs at the bottom wich is great for water changes. I have a pump connected to my drainplug and just pump out as much water as needed every few days. Also, you don't have to clean glass. Welcome to MFK.

When are we gonna set up the Indiana MFK party?

i made my own filter and all,, heres how it works

intake is the 3" pvc U thats turned upsied down into the 29 gallon that has light diffuser panles to make media chambers then there is an 1100 gallon an hour pump that pumps water into the drain plug then the water goes into an 8" deep area under a huge undergravel filter (yes 8" of water beneath the gravel so the gravel is only 1 1/2" deep) this works awesome i have had to add powerheads to create surface aggitation

good idea

Oh, for jumpers just use a panel of eggcrate light diffuser with some wieght on top, lets in light and air without letting the fish end up on the floor.
