tufa rock or holey rock

Personally, i can't stand holey rock. The tufa looks alright, but i imagine it could scratch your fish up pretty bad if they went rubbing on it/swimming through it really fast.

I would personally get some local rock like limestone or granite. In my African Tank i had rock from the local river. Its all clean, smooth edges and some of it has some awesome colors to it. Not to mention its free.

Just my opinion.

i used to love Holey rock, but I have since switched my preference over to tufa rock. Just preference though.

I guess I like the TXHR becaus eit has so many holes for the juvies... it s also much smoother... With the right lighting the algae will grow in the holes providing fod for the juvies that the larger fish can't pick away....

As for scratching our fish... sometimes I see a fish with a tufa rash.... but the benifits of lightweight, stacking and caves out weigh the risk of damage... It seems to me that the more places to hide = less aggression....
