tuff scavenger

I was also thinking of getting a large rhino pleco. Someone told me that they are "tuffer" than an ordinary pleco. Has anyone had experience with this species?

Mine is a thick mofo! Slow growers, but mine has made it to 9" with aggressive cichlids, not an RD/Midas though. He is 9"TL and at his thickest close to 2" accross. Sh*ts like mad though.

Raphael Cat is what I immediately thought of. Just make sure its big enough not to fit in between they RD jaws. good luck

no better algae cleaner then a pleco. just give it a log to hide in during the day so the devil can't attack it, and by morning your glass will be crystal clean :)

i appreciate all the advice anybody know where to get a big enough log for a 12 inch pleco? does it have to be artificial?

A striped raphael would probably be okay. I've got one that hides in a cave all day, but is super active at night - they get about 6 inches, and have lots of little spines down their sides and back. Make sure you don't get one small enough to be eaten, if you do get one, because I don't think it would go well for the RD. PVC pipes are good hiding places as well.

With my CA cichlids I have a pictus catfish.

I would recomend some yoyo loaches. They are active, probably too much for an RD to give jack about. They know no teritories so they will not proove a threat to an RD.

I decided to stick with my pleco. I put a big enough piece of PVC for him to fit in but to small for the RD(although it looks kinda tacky) We'll see how it goes
