TUIC

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just read Kevin’s post and am devastated. I have been buying cichlids from Kevin and before that Jeff for many years, and it is sad to lose a great quality supplier to the industry and hobby.

It has seemed like the popularity of the hobby is shrinking and losing great suppliers like COTA and TUIC will only hurt it more.

I wanted to thank Kevin and TUIC for all of the quality of their service and product! I wish him the best.
This is a real bummer I started the hobby over 25 years ago with an order from Rapps.. been out for some years and was looking to make another order from TUIC.. Who are the go to guys now? That have some impressive stock similar to TUIC AND COTA

Unfortunately it’s a big issue. My personal favorite is cichlid dojo. He is on here and also Facebook
Where does he actually post his listings - not on facebook.

I have no clue what COTA was but the only two stores i use are pretty much just wetspot and aquaticclarity - of course i *mostly* want dwarf cichild and not the larger monsters you all want - but i do have some large geo and chocolate cichild - unfortunately my chocolate like to breed and dug up a huge hole straight down to the floor - well the glass anyway.

COTA was Cichlids of the Americas. If you throw that in in YouTube you’ll find some extensive tours of his former breeding operation. It was crazy.
I think you need DM dojo for the list. He breeds like 4-6 species that he sells but they are on the larger size, GTs festae, carpintis ect

You can private message cichlid dojo. His name is Matt. Purchased my festae from him. Real cool guy and awesome with communication.

That's how we communicated via Facebook. Idk what his tag is on the site, but I do believe he may be able to shoot you his email via YouTube if you comment on his videos.
He'll send you a stock list, food stock list and prices on shipping rates.

Matt (aka Cichlid Dojo) has some awesome WC and F1, F2, fish but he is very limited with his stock he keeps maybe 5-6 different species but those species are top notch as is his communication.

This is a sad day indeed. Have been buying fish from Jeff for 20 years or so, and a couple times since Kevin took over as well. Without TUIC and also CoA, our options to find these species nowadays are pretty slim. I've had good experiences with a few other online fish dealers (wet spot for one ), but it's not quite the same as having a dedicated cichlid specialist vendor.
Kevin is on this site- I know lots of people are grateful for the service TUIC provided for many years!
Jeff is still around the internet as well, I follow him on IG and he mostly posts wildlife photography, seems to be living happily in retirement.
All the best to the TUIC team and thanks again for everything!
