Turbo HOB??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its unfortunate that you are for whatever reason, unable to properly set up and operate an ac110, you'd be surprised. you seem to be the only one with such an issue. or at least the only one that hasnt been able to figure iout that the issue was more then likely his doing.
feel free to do your search and post links. but ive already searched "ac110 problems" and no such luck. though i did find a bunch of user error problems that were easily fixed.

i run fine media in all my ac110s, and have had no such problem. as do tons of other people.
im sorry you havnt been able to run one. but if your happy with the emperor, more poewer to you. i just cant justify buying one when i know there is a superior HOb for basically the same price.

to each his own i guess. but either way the ac110 vs. emp400 debate has been done many times over, and the ac110 always proves the victor.
you can searxh that one too while youre at it. but im done debating it here. the answers are there for the taking. have at it. :)

Allrighty, couldnt care less which one is "better" b/c I own 2x 400's, they are paid for, and they work great. I wanted to know if somone/anyone had done a sort of DIY to inc bio filtration as opposed to just useing carbon in the trays.

I run ceramic bio media like bio max in the trays.

But most of the time I like to stuff them full of polyfill to catch finer particles. Just make sure you have the regualar cartridge in front of them for a prefilter, or they will clog quickly because they catch alot of stuff regular filter pads miss.

I have 4 Emperor 400's (i have never had a problem with clean water EVER) I am going to try this on one of them... I just wonder what size bubbler they are using for the air stones? It looks like it would be a fun project. IM DOWN FOR IT!!!

Not sure how much more bacteria you can grow with this mod. I think adding the bio media into the media container would be more then enough, and the added airline would not be worth the effort.

You two arguing which is better sound like a couple of preschoolers arguing which flavor of ice cream is better :duh:

Yes and once you get the ac110 be ready to reprime it everytime you unplug it to do a water change. Also place a bucket under it to catch the water that spills out if the sponge clogs. And last but not least add a extra filter because the ac sponges don't catch anything.

BTW just curoius, how would a sponge clog if it don't catch anything? :screwy:
