I'm currently medicating 1 of my tanks, its a 120 gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump. since my med is good for 120 gallons only I turned off the sump and just added an airstone , would the filter be ok for 24 hours? how about the fish?
i have an airstone only in th etank and a heater.

any ideas?

Thanks :) How about BB in my sump filter, will they survive with no agitation? or would it be a better idea to add an airston also in 1 of the chambers?

Im always to paranoid to turn the filter of, but yes i do sometimes turn my water pump of, when i wanna get some sleep...

Is there a reason you want to turn it of? I sometimes want to turn a few things of to save electricity, but my tank is smaller than yours, so im not sure if that would be a good idea for my small 20 gal :/

i was only able to buy a small bottle of the medicine for my fish , good only for 120 gal which is the volume of my main tank :) but with additional volume of water in the sump the meds will not be enough :) since i only need to treat for a day , i've thought of discon ecting the sump for a day :)

There's a good chance you will lose a lot of your BB by shutting the filter off for 24 hours.

I read somewhere that turning the filter off for more than 1 hour will cause the BB to start dying off, since they're aerobic and will be starving for air.

thanks :) I turned on the powerhead, but instead of pumping back water into the main tank, i connected it to return the water to the 2nd chamber of the sump. hope this keeps my bb alive for a day :)

good call, as long as you have the powerhead adding oxygen and maybe even throw in another air stone out of paranoia i'd think you'll be fine

Worst case, you could go get some ammonia to put in your sump to give the bacteria something to feed on for the day.
