Turning saltwater tank freshwater?

as long as the sand is rinsed and cleaned properly, left to air dry for a few days it should be ok.

Sand will be fine just clean it and add water. Don't need to let it dry or anything just rinse well and get all crud out. A little salt won't hurt anything. My 125 was salt now fresh. If you really want to double check it just do a water change which you will so anyways.
