Turquoise Severum?

What fish do you have with him? at that size you should see ALOT of color. Mine usually color up when they are ~2inches- I had a female lay eggs at that size, but she was too small to defend them fomr the rest of the tank.

If they aren't flashing good green color, check these things: tank mates, water quality, food
 
He is in with a timid Jack Dempsey, the JD is very peacful and doesnt show any agression towards the Severum. The tank is 55 gallons. Water quality is fine, 0 amonia,0 nitrites 8-10 nitrates. Food is Wardly cichlid pellet and every once in awhile some wax worms. The JD is also kind of pale now that i think if it, any other ideas as what could cause this? Other than color they are very healthy, swimming around and always waiting for food.

Why are they so brown?
 
Sorry to say this but I think you have a regular green sev my friend. Hope you didn't pay out the butt for it. It is a good looking one though.

Yeah your sev looks like the regular green sev. Looks just like the one I used to have and I had a green. Still nice either way.
 
I had no idea there was a difference between the two. anywho, the turqoiuse ones are less than 4 bucks at petsmart
 
isn't there only 2? the turqoise is the green severum and there is the gold severum. i think the green is the same as the turqoise. in order to get that more turqoise color, you just have to feed it the right stuff. i read somewhere awhile back that if you feed the green severum more veggies, it will give it that blue/turqoise coloring to it.

if anyone can find a website that can tell you all the variants of severums, it would be nice to post the link in this thread.
 
I bought it at petsmart for 8 bucks. It is very turquoise around the eyes, and a little by the tail, the horrible picture doesnt show that. What about the JD is it normal color?
