Right now I have the two het albino parents in a 750 gallon outdoor pond surrounded by some nice sandy areas for her to lay her eggs. I basically just let nature take its course....I let them hibernate in the winter and then when she lays her eggs in May I dig them up and put them into my incubator. I am in the process of looking for a bigger house and once I move I will be moving the whole project indoors. My albinos should be ready to breed next season and there is no way I am leaving them outside through a winter!!! All three albinos have been indoor in tanks their whole lives and there is no way I would risk putting them outside. They are currently in 75 gallon tanks....i'll see if I can post a few pics when I get home from work.

Imartelli77, I didn't know you bred albino snappers! I'd love to add another type to the current species I'm breeding. I might have to get a hold of you in the future since you live pretty close to me.

Much appreciated on the additional info i'd love to see pics! I would never leave those albinos outside either so i dont blame you lol...I was wondering if you just let it happen on its own then collected the eggs, From what ive seen online most people do the same. Couple people just have their own pond/lakes and dig up the eggs leaving the parents to fend for themselves. I dont think indoor breeding setup would be that hard or expensive. How deep of a sand bed do you think they need when laying eggs?

Absolutely....I am hoping for some to hatch in August if my hets breed for me. The female didn't lay any eggs in 2012. I really hope that was an anomaly.

Unfortunately my albinos won't be ready to breed until next year.

Yeah...I don't think the price will kill me...I just don't have the space right now. I really want to get one of these...http://www.southernstates.com/catalog/p-10158-southern-states-poly-tank-quarter-250gal.aspx and somehow surround it with a nice sand bed for egg laying. They usually lay their eggs in nests about 10"-12" deep.

Ive owned many stock tanks and never found a triangle one...nice find. 300gal rubbermaids can be bulky with their shape and their almost twice the price of the 250 triangle.

Here is a few pics of my male, Beavis, and his current tank setup. He is my largest albino and is probably ready to breed already, but I don't think my females are quite ready yet. I just added a bunch of duckweed and frogbit to his tank yesterday to give him some more veggie matter to nibble on. Hopefully they help control my nitrates a little bit and keep the algae from accumulating on his shell. Right now I scrub his shell about once a month and it is an understatement to say that it royally pisses him off! When he was smaller I had his tank nicely aquascaped and very naturalistic looking, but he is like a bull in a china shop and tears apart anything I try to put in there...lol.
