Somewhere
I have a RES and he crawled out of the tank 2 weeks ago. I just found him. I called the vet and asked if there was anything I was sposed to do before introducing him back into the water. and they sad no.... I put him in the water and he cant seem to sink?? he trys to swim down but just floats back up. I think its because he was all dried up and his body needs to take in water?? Any ideas?

Ya and some how alive......??

Your turtle seems to be very fragile:( The next 24 hours probably will be critical. There is also the possiblity that he´s gotten pneumonia wich is a cause for floating. Keep him warmer then usual and go to the vet as soon as you can. He will need antibiotic shots

Barely:( Sliders dont usualy leave the water for so long even for hibernacion wich they do under water

so whats the call? Right now hes acting fine but floating?

Floating can be caused by a variety of things but the worse is pneumonia and the floating in that case is caused by air caut in the turt´s lungs wich cant get out because of mucus and pus resulting from the infection. Result the turtle floats. You cant know for shure just for looking at it. Pneumonia is fatal if not treated. Take your turtle to a exotic vet asap

Cant take him to exotic pet vet they just closed..........

Crank up the water temperature a few degrees, it'll help if there is a respiratory infection. Make sure there is an easy-to-access basking area and no drafts in the room where the tank is.

Is he breathing odd at all? Like making wheezing noises or opening his mouth to breathe?
