Turtle Floating?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Could it be that he is severely dehydrated? Would that make them less buoyant?

turtles are like wood just let it soak up some water and it will start to sink

Update: Still floating, he is not making any noises.. acting normal besides floating still. Still haven't gotten him to eat??? Hes become to friendly since hes been floating... I tried to scare him down to see if he was just deciding to float now... He wont flee?? I got him to go down once. He seemed to swim across with no problem, then when he stopped swimming he floated back up?

Most of the turts Ive reseived whit respiratory distress dint make any sounds, that still seems pneumonia, AGAIN: take him to the vet!

:iagree:

take him ASAP!

do you have any pics? i know it wont help if he has pneumonia. but maybe one of us can pick something out that you are overlooking? also what are the conditions in the enclosure? water temp, feeding scheduals, what are you feeding, filtration, ect.

Hes in a 75gl. With a 100gl power filter. The tank temp is 80F. He has a basking lamp and place. He is 5in. Long. Housed with 3 other turtles and feeder fish. Feed: Turtle Pellets, and feeder fish. Will take pic when I get home.
