If you're having trouble with veggies try anacharis. It's an aquatic plant, fairly cheap and easy to grow. Every turtle I have had eat the heck out of them. To avoid having to run back to the pet store all the time you can just pick up a cheap $5 Tupperware bin throw them in there in some water and sunlight and grow your own. Watch out for snails though! Guaranteed to be on live plants and although a tasty snack for your turtle not such a tasty snack for filters and their breeding rate can get out of hand.

As for the cichlid pellets I've never seen that before but it seems like a great idea! I'll have to try it out.

I will try this. sounds cheap, simple, and healthy.

Just tried algae warfers and my turtle loved them...learn something new everyday

yesterday i was looking at my tank and noticed that all the turtles do is scavenge the bottom of the tank for uneaten veggie pellets that i throw in for the pleco. they end up finding other stuff too. lol, so i guess my turtles do eat some veggie pellets.

HA....HA.... i was told that i wasn't an expert, so now i just back to being an amateur.

Rather than buying the expensive algae sheets go to kroger and get nori (the stuff they use to wrap sushi). It's exactly the same stuff for half the price. I know because I feed it to my bicolor angelfish all the time.

BTW, my turtle (adult male RES) eats anything you throw in the tank: cubed cooked carrots, green beens, corn, lettuce, peas, algae wafers, pellets, small fish, snails, plants, tuna on a spoon (don't feed it anymore as it causes explosive diahrea), even a little oatmeal every now and then. Apparently the people that used to own him (he was a rescue) fed him potato chips as well... :screwy:
