So I have 2 RES turtles female and male now, and after seeing some pics of turtles deformed because of food... I was wondering which food you recommend giving them....Unless just pellets are ok..

Here something from another thread.
Feeder Items: live feeder fish (guppies, minnows), earthworms, crickets, waxworms, earthworms, silkworms, aquatic snails, blood worms, daphnia, shrimp, krill, mealworms. For very small turtles, prey may have to be cut into smaller pieces. Larger turtles can be offered larger items like tadpoles.
Leafy greens: collard, mustard and dandelion greens, kale, bok choy. Head (iceberg) lettuce should never be feed as it contains very little nutrition, but dark green leaf lettuces (e.g romaine) can be feed sparingly
Aquatic plants: in an aquarium or pond you can add aquatic plants on which turtles usually love to snack. Submerged plants like anacharis are often eaten, as are water hyacinth, water lettuce, duckweed, azolla (fairy moss), and frog-bit.
Other vegetables: carrots (tops are fine too), squash and green beans.
So is that food ok for to have normal healthy turtle?

Since thats what I recomended in the other thread, I'm going to say yes  You might also want to put cuttle bone in the tank for them to munch on aswell, it provides great calcium.

Stay away from goldfish, they are just nasty and hard to maintain a good breeding colony. Guppies are great though, set-up a 10, or a 20 gallon with some water sprite for the babies to hide in, and your gold.

I'm going to give some of my convicts to my RES tommorow and see if he eats any, hopefully he does, I have so many baby cons at the moment.

As far as deformed turtles go it's usually tortoises that suffer. I wouldn't worry too much about your RES developing any type of shell deformity unless you're feeding him dog food. They're pretty tough turtles with a very variable diet. While I wouldn't recommend feeding a pellet diet to any herp I would say if you have to try Monster Diet turtle pellets. I usually try to feed what they would naturally munch on in the wild. The list you were provided is an excellent source. I fed mine (when I had one) Anachris (aquatic plant), various greens, mosquito fish (just like a guppy), krill, live freshwater shrimp, crayfish, crickets, earthworms, mealworms, waxworms, chopped tilapia filet. Just vary the diet as much as possible and make sure your turtle is getting greens and live/ frozen prey items and he'll be just fine.

i breed guppies just cause they reproduce quicker and a i have to growing western painteds who enjoi them...as well as an oscar in another tank...convicts dont breed as often or as quick. keep them on crustacean as well...its messy but healthy...my westerns enjoi snails, crayfish, and such as well as insects as mentioned above... jsut remember that as juvies they tend to eat more protein and as adults they tend to switch over to more vegetative with protien as treats
