my westerns as with all my animals excluding the redfoots were rescues...the two westerns cam to me cause a lady had bought a 5gal "growout" and then they grew from the size of a quater to 2inch shells in no time and she didnt have money or time for a bigger tank and thought they would do better in the care of someone else ...just so happen to be me and my 55gal...guppies you can just get 2 males and 5females from you lfs and stick em in a 10-20gal and wait like a month then youll have a nice supply...

I'm going to give some of my convicts to my RES tommorow and see if he eats any, hopefully he does, I have so many baby cons at the moment.

I breed convict cichlids for feeders for my other fish. I tried giving a couple to my Musk Turtle but they were way too fast for him to catch. I think live fish all together make poor feeders.

havent fed convicts...if you feed them as treats and you make sure the fish are eating healty diet then i feel they can be an adequate part of the diet...but ya i prefer crusteceans...

Which type of crustaceans ?

if there big enough i give crayfish with the pinchers removed, apple snails and sometimes land snails on their dock and they grab them and bring them to the water to eat...shrimp...stuff like that

get some small ones later when he's bigger then
