Some other semi-aquatic turtles would be Spotted Turtles, Bog Turtles, Four-Eyed Turtles, Ornate Wood Turtles and Yellow Margined Box Turtles. Some members of the Mud Turtle family will also take advantage of land area.

I allways loved south and central american woods but havent had much luck with them:( If you want to try them you must get a true captive bred one, otherwise you will just get yourself into trobble. In my experience much better would be the chinese box turtle Cuora flavomarginata (but even then you should get a captive bred one). They are really hardy and personable turts that trive both inddors and outdoors unlike american boxys but like them that size tank wont be enough for life. Another sugestion especialy if you are into unusuall things would be a black belly leaf turtle Geomyda spengleri:headbang2These are land and sometimes semiaquatic turtles that live in moist asian tropical and subtropical forests. They are really small (about 13cm long max) and very exotic loking. These are being captive bred and its really the only way to go with this guys. These can be hard to extablish but very hardy once settled. But they are also very expensive like most litle prolific species since they only lay one or 2 eggs at a time. But if you ask me I think they are worth it;)

Good question. I don't think I've ever seen one for sale. I'd start with kingsnake or Turtleman.com.
