Hello:
Yellow-Bellies are very engaging little turtles and can easily be trained to "routine behaviour." You will find that after a short time (a couple months anyway) they will respond to you every time they see you. Then you can tell any visitors how you've "soothed the savage beast."
Seriously though; they will tame down and interact with you fairly quickly.
