turtle hunting

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a baby painted, liked the requirements of the musk's better.
Gave the painted to someone who wanted them, therefore they can bask at will.
The only thing that sucks about the musks is that they are very shy.
When you adequately outfit their tank with a good hiding spot, you never see them, and when they see you.................woosh, they are gone.

Vicious, is your's CB or something? It seems to stalk you for food!

RPTCH, that same seine net still holding up?

Nah, but I did get him when he was probably only a few days old. Both mine are pretty friendly and beg for food when they see me. But my male musk (the one in the video) is by far the friendliest of the two. It took a few months for him to gain my trust though.

I have never seen snapper in any of the lakes, canals here only soft shell and red ear sliders. Imagine you have to go somewhat deep to find snappers?

Not that I would do that lol as gators but the zillion times I have walked the lake shore looking at animals never saw a snapper could be none in area maybe to warm.

baby snappers are some times found in the shallows. the majority of the time you find hatchings walking around looking for water. fortunately for us, there are no gators to worry about up here in ma, except mine when its feeding time. if you are into turtles, and you can make a long term comitment to one, i highly recommend snappers. they are great animals.

Yeah, I see snappers out of the water about 10 times as often as I see them in. I normally find newly hatched babies, or females searching for a place to lay eggs. Around here all you have to do to find snappers is drive around during their laying season and they're all over the roads

so you can get rid of it a month from now?? turtles are your flavor of the week. last week was beardies, the week before- gargoyles, the week before- snakes- the week before- etc etc.
