Turtle I found while fishing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Try feeding your turtle eathworms, wax worms, crickets, aqutic insect larva, boiled lettuce/spinach. Goldfish are bad and can carry disease, try to avoid feeding them.

i agree, goldfish arnt the best to feed. try catching minnows in the stream that you got him from plus the usual insects you can find around the yard

Worms will be good. He may not go for pellets, mud turts are bottom feeders so a wild one won't be all that inclined to look up for food.

Hey I read that goldfish with disease can kill carnivorous fish.
Can they kill turtles too? Does it even transfer?

Sure, they can trasfer diseases/parasites to a turtle or an oscar. That's one of the reasons why feeder goldfish are not good to feed to turtles or fish, plus they aren't very nutritionus.

Can I feed it wild baby bass & bluegill?(i think that's what he's been eating)
Would the bones in the fish harm the turtle?
What about frogs and tadpoles?

Sorry for the double post.

I just got my reply from DFG of CA.
The final words were "Given the fact that they are not illegal to possess, you should be OK"

So please give me more info. on keeping aquatic turtles.
