Any one ever kept any type of turtle with there cichlids, mbuna to be specific. Wanted to add one to my tank if possible. 55g. Any input would be great.

Not recommended. Can't think of a turtle that could live for long in a 55g with no basking and aggressive, nippy fish. The fish would also probably be at risk.

turtles don't mix good with fish especially African cichlids as they need pristine water. Turtles can be filthy. Turtles also need to bask so that means it will need to come out of the water on a platform or a rock to catch some rays.

Figured the tank would be too small, but I have seen setups on YouTube with a 55 but wanted to check here first.

Not recommended but it is possible. I agree with what they said. one day your turtle is hungry... good bye fish. And turtles are filthy. I entertained the idea when I had sa cichlids but never went through with it. Too much of a risk for me personally but hey it is your tank.

I keep a musk turtle in a 40g with my discus grow outs and other SA cichlids, he's fine with the fish and has no impact on water quality but the tank is very well filtered

Turtles are mainly scavengers in the wild. They will eat anything. I wouldn't put them with any fish I wanted to keep.
