Turtle names...

1. A'Tuin - The name of the turtle the elephants stand on in the Discworld series (I don't think the turtle in the actual Indian myth has a name)

2. Maturin - One of the 12 Guardians of the Beam in the Dark Tower series

3. Gamera - If you don't know who Gamera is, there's not point in using the name.

All my painted turtles were named after famous artists.

I did that with my malaysian painted frog. His name was Picasso. I'm thinking about getting another fat frog and if I get a painted frog, I think I'm going with Dali

I'm normally not that imaginative with names, if I even give some of the animals names. My pen. cooter is just named Cooter and I never really came up with a good name for my slider, even though I've had him for like 5 years now...

haha! I got it... decided to go with native american names...
For the smaller, painted turtle: AYASHA: Cheyenne name meaning "little one."
For the darker colored of the 2 sliders: CHOCHMO: Hopi name meaning " mud mound."
For the lighter of the 2 sliders: PAMUYA: Hopi name meaning " water moon."

alot of my pets have "local" names my lmb is named "wally" after the redsox mascot, and my painted turtle is named sunny because many people around here call painted turtles "sun turtles"
