Very interesting under carapace shape. Almost like a large boat would have.

Is the black pebble something similar to what their native habitat would have? They look good on it.

Now, the ultimate question is, how often if ever, do you see yours hauling a breath in through his butt?

No, the pebble is nothing like theire natural habitat. The Mary river has large fist sized stones, but I like the black pebbles better. I am thinking of changing to river sand some time soon.

I haven't seen the Mary's breathing through the butt, but I have seen a Fitzroy River turtle doing it. It was actually blowing a hole in the sand and breathing just as fast as a fish would with gills.

I am feeding them on Hikari Gold Pellets. They contain everything a turtle needs in its staple diet. They also get live freshwater shrimp, mussels, and crickets.

They are only hatchies at the moment and are in a four foot tank. They will be good in there for a couple of years until I need to move them into either a bigger tank or a pond. They will eventually get to this size of Travis here (theire Dad)
