  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Perhaps we can talk the OP in to releasing it?;)

Why? They're like cockraoch/pigeon of the turtle world lol, not exactly endangered.

Awesome critters, out of the tank mines so tame you can pet her chin.

here's my common snapper hes a mean *** turtle but i still love him.. that was his holding tank untill we got him a 150g of his own.

if you let it go something will get it and in due time after it grows up people will capture it for eating..

OK, keep it for 2 years and when it hits 5" and is no longer interested in getting her chin pet and wants nothing to do with you and needs a kiddie pool to live in you can sell her for $50 on craigslist.;)

five inches in two years? thats not very fast growing, doesn't seem like it anyway

I had 3 wild caught hatchlings that someone gave to me. I kept them for 15 months and they got this big. I released them in to the same lake they were taken from.
At this size, they needed at least a 55g and were already being nasty to each other. They were no longer "Tame" either.
Snappers are cool but get huge and aren't huggable.
