Turtle with electic catfish?

I got 2 adult turtles(RES and cooter) and the previous owner said they fed on nothing but pellets lettuce and insects. I put in a few fishin and the next day they were ripped to bits

RES with fish, on top of that an e cat not a good idea. I have one myself about 8.5-9 inches now. He works in my community tank. But I wouldn't trust turtles like I said with fish its a matter of time.
