I was afraid that would be your qanswer..thank you guys!

dude, you guys are all giving the frt a bad name. I have had mine in a 92 corner bow tank, shes been nothing but an angel... she lives with 4 angel fish and 2 small discus... everyone plays nice. and she never goes after anyone and if she does, she is slow as hell... but she rocks...

Yeah, the old turtle in the fish tank question. It can work, but you always risk having some fish coming up missing. I keep softshells, so it tends to be a no-no unless the fish is a big bruiser.

And about water quality, turtles are about the same as fish in making waste. A turtle just doesn't produce more poop than a fish does. The thing that makes it seem this way is that turtles are often kept in tanks too small for them. Just like having a big fish in a little tank, it will get fowled often. Its like seeing a 10 lb snapper in a 75 gallon, now imagine a 10 lb p-bass (I'm not sure how big that really is but over 24" is a good guess) in a 75 gallon. Not a good sight.

And for the water quality affecting the fish in a turtle tank, fish are not the only ones to worry about. The turtle has to drink the water it is in so it effects the growth and health of the turtle aswell. And the water is what keeps the turtles clean. Clean water is as important to turtles as it is to fish.

I had a RES in my tank for about a year with a wide array of fish and everything was fine. Then one day he decided that he wanted to eat live fish and that's what he did. I finally had to move him to a private pond. They are also very messy but are nice to watch.

Another issue with a FRT fish combo is that FRT's prefer water with high ph and slightly brackish.

thank you guys for all the input!

turtles stink to, and can carry salmanila, and poop when you feed them.
I used to have a snapping turtle when i was little. Them guys would take a fish whenever it had a chance, damn things neck could reach 1/2 down its back trying to bite me.
