I dunno... My first "monster pet" was a slider... would eat everything from tadpoles and goldfish to small frogs and small lizards...
Even when he has fat in his final days he could still chase down a fish.
Maybe their being agressive has to do some with the water temp you keep them in. The cooler the more calm, and thats why some people might have luck.
I'm just guessing... Like some one else said. That thing is like a tank vs foot soldiers.
