im looking to start keeping turtles. i am looking to go small. i have a 30 gallon tank. i was thinking about an eastern painted turtle...but i dont know anything about them. what turtles stay really small? where should i get them? .what should i feed them? anything will help. i am a beginer and i need lots of advice. Also would my turtle be good with my 3" spotted pictus cat? thanks! what about eastern painted turtles?

i don't think eastern painted is a good beginners turtle. Why don't you try a map turtle or red ear slider first.

Painted and Sliders are way to big for a 30 gallon as adults. Try to find a male Mississppi Map or a Reeves (though not native). A Stinkpot Musk would also work, but they are not as active as the others

yeaa i think im gunna get a new tank and order a buy on get on free deal off turtle sale. with mississippi map turtles.

I have a razorback musk turtle and he is so cool. I think they max at 5 inches, but I could be wrong. I'm looking to get another one. Razorbacks are the bomb!

That deal seems to only be for RES, not maps. And there is a reason for that.

Also, I have not heard good things about Turtle Sale, Turtle Source seems to be much more reliable with better quality stock
