how did you do the land portion/ heat lamp for the turtle?Meekubin;2820415; said:I had success for a year with a 1-2 year old pond slider and 4 opaline gourami's in a 55 gal. The pond slider had been fed on turtle sticks and occasional treats of canned shrimp. He never tried to eat the opalines. I thought he might ignore a trio of butterfly live bearers, but he ate one within an hour and I pulled out the remaining pair. I later put in some 2-3 inch cichlid culls and I think he left them alone. My power went out for 3 days and the gouramis and cichlids died. I think my success was due to the fact that I had sufficient rock work on a bare bottom thank. It would be tough to corner a fish in this environment. Also, and this is probably key, the fish were introduced after the turtle was no longer a "playful" youth. I would not risk valuable fish, but those gourami made the turtle tank much more interesting. Turtle is doing fine with 3 small cichlids I found in a feeder guppy tank at the local fish store. Good luck![]()
