Turtles

I have a different idea, as I've had several perfectly healthy turtles display this exact behaviour. In each case it was due to aggression from another turtle, especially by males looking to breed. My big female Scorpion musk started doing that, never venturing into the water, it was only after I removed the smaller male Loggerhead musk that she went back to normal. Same with a large female Caspian pond and male Chinese Thread who were getting harassed by a male Reeves.

That is an excellent point. I think you get to know your turtles after a while and changes in behavior get noticed, opposed to what you consider normal behavior. In my case, the tank is active and one could presume she's staying out of the way by basking all the time. Come feeding time though, she plunges right in to the water! She gets her fill, then climbs back up to bask. Not much stress that I can see.

Try taking the other Pelusios out for a week and see if it makes a difference.

Me? I only have one. I have several other turtles though but only one Pelusios.

Edited: Duh, I see the OP has two. Nevermind.
